127th Death Anniversary Commemoration of Andres Bonifacio
Gat Andres Bonifacio was tried in the house of Teodorico Reyes in Maragondon, Cavite due to allegations that Bonifacio was planning to take down Emilio Aguinaldo.
The following day, 5 May 1897, the Council found Andres along with his brother Procopio as co-conspirator guilty for the acts related to their intention to overthrow the recently established government and sentenced the brothers to face death by musketry.
When Gen. Aguinaldo received this recommendation, he mitigated the penalty and decided to only punish them with exile. Despite this, however, upon verbal persuasions of the Council, Gen. Aguinaldo reversed himself and Andres and Procopio Bonifacio were killed at the foot of Mt. Buntis in Maragondon, Cavite on 10 May 1897.
