Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto addressed the following points during the weekly flag-raising ceremony:
00:01-00:03: Mayor Vico greeted everyone who attended the flag-raising ceremony with a good morning.
00:04-01:04: Guidelines on the Cancellation or Suspension of Classes and Work in Schools during Disasters or Natural Calamities
- He then reminded students and their parents about Executive Order No. PCG-43, s. 2022, which outlines the guidelines for the cancellation of classes and work in schools in the event of disasters and other natural calamities.
- Mayor Vico explained that under EO No. PCG-43, s. 2022, which is aligned with the guidelines released by the Department of Education (DepEd), classes in schools located in Pasig City under DepEd (K-12, alternative learning system, and ECCD/day care) are automatically cancelled or suspended upon the issuance of an Orange or Red Rainfall Warning by PAGASA.
- He added that if an Orange or Red Rainfall Warning is not issued, the Schools Division Office or school administrators have the authority to cancel or suspend classes. Mayor Vico also mentioned that, as much as possible, he will refrain from suspending classes.
- Mayor Vico reiterated that the issuance of either an Orange or Red Rainfall Warning results in the automatic cancellation or suspension of classes under DepEd. Copy of the EO may be accessed through this link: bit.ly/PC_EONo_43_s2022
01:05-03:22: Awards Received by the City Health Department (CHD)
- Mayor Vico congratulated the CHD, headed by Dr. Joseph Panaligan, for receiving various awards, including the 2023 Green Banner Seal of Compliance.
He then said that in meetings with the CHD, the focus is often on the problems, which is understandable because attention should be given to areas where there are issues and shortcomings. However, Mayor Vico also mentioned that health services in Pasig City, compared to other local government units, are among the best.
- Mayor Vico also commended the Nutrition Office led by Ms. Jenily Capalaran, for their hard work, and shared that the City Government of Pasig has the highest number of nutritionists in the entire Philippines.
- He noted that the criteria or indicators being checked for implementing the Universal Health Care (UHC) are challenging and complex. However, he proudly stated that Pasig City is one of the leading cities in UHC implementation and added that Pasig City is likely among the Top 10 or even Top 5 cities in the country in terms of UHC implementation.
- Mayor Vico reminded the employees of CHD that in upcoming meetings, they might once again focus on the problems, but he told them not to forget about the accomplishments they have achieved. He emphasized that these successes should serve as their inspiration and motivation to further improve and enhance health services, as well as other services provided by the local government.
- Mayor Vico told the employees from the CHD, as well as those from public hospitals under the local government, to keep up the good work and congratulated them again on their achievements.
03:23-03:28: To end his speech, Mayor Vico thanked everyone who attended the flag-raising ceremony and wished them a happy week.
